Vighnesh Notes · DevOps Migration Playbook

Azure DevOps to GitHub Migration Playbook

Unlocking Agentic DevOps through a structured, secure, and measurable platform transition.

I created this visual playbook to organize the major decisions and activities involved in moving from Azure DevOps to GitHub. The collection covers current-state assessment, future-state planning, GitHub foundation preparation, workload migration, validation, team adoption, and the use of GitHub Copilot and Agentic DevOps capabilities.

The notes are designed as a visual planning and discussion aid. Production migrations should be validated against current Microsoft and GitHub documentation, licensing, security requirements, organizational policies, and the specific features used in the source Azure DevOps environment.

About this resource

A visual planning aid for a complex platform transition.

Why I created this playbook

A DevOps-platform migration affects more than repositories. It also affects planning, identity, permissions, pipelines, packages, integrations, testing, documentation, security controls, team workflows, and support processes. I created this visual series to make those dependencies easier to discuss and sequence.

What this project demonstrates

This project demonstrates DevOps platform strategy, Azure DevOps and GitHub knowledge, migration planning, CI/CD modernization, governance, security, developer enablement, technical documentation, and the ability to translate a complex platform transition into an accessible visual guide.
